In the 16th century, in his novel Gargantua, the French autor F. Rabelais imagined each of the 9332 rooms in the Abbey of Thélème decorated with "a crystalline mirror of such size that it could show the whole person". Beyond the intimate tête-à-tête that it allows, the mirror has the magical power to reflect light and duplicate the environment. Like a lens, it cuts through the decor to send back a reflection cut out in its own image, full-length, in a circle, or asymmetrical as here. Finely textured, Milos' frame displays a contrasting line where rounded edges are opposed to broken angles to better sculpt the space.
